Generous donations from various donors have helped the IIT Delhi Endowment Fund to grow at a rapid pace. Each contribution, however big or small has been adding to the pool of funds and strengthening the mission and vision of the Endowment Fund.
With donations coming in huge numbers since its inception, the IIT Delhi Endowment Fund has created a long-lasting impact that has changed the lives of many students at IIT Delhi.
The Endowment Office has embarked upon several initiatives, including creating various scholarships, donor-endowed chairs, awards and new infrastructure.
A new World Class Indoor Sports Complex was built by Saurabh Mittal’s Support, an alumnus of IIT Delhi from the batch of 1995. The three-storey, fully air-conditioned state-of-the-art indoor sports complex built for the IIT Delhi students and employees houses four badminton courts, two squash courts, two table tennis halls, an Open Air Theatre, office space, a conference room and a terrace garden.
Mr Anant Yardi, President and Founder of Yardi Systems and an alumnus of IIT Delhi, has pledged USD 10 million (Rs ~75 Cr) to IIT Delhi. The amount has been used to set up the Yardi School of Artificial Intelligence. The School was set up by the Institute for the purpose of expanding opportunities for fundamental and inter-disciplinary research, innovation and postgraduate education in Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning, and Data Science technologies.
Mr. Navin Chaddha (Electrical Engineering, 1992 Batch), Managing Director, Mayfield Fund, has generously contributed to IIT Delhi Endowment for a pioneering student support language program.
Indian Institute of Technology Delhi established CERCA (Arun Duggal Centre of Excellence for Research in Climate Change and Air Pollution) to help scholars devise solutions to fight air pollution and promote scientific research in the field. CERCA was inaugurated by the Honorable Lt Governor of Delhi, Shri Anil Baijal and has been set up with the help of Shri Arun Duggal, an alumnus of IIT Delhi.
The Mittal Renaissance Scholars programme is an initiative of Mr. Saurabh Mittal with a vision to help students in all-around development. This scholarship programme aims to encourage students to become all-rounders and excel in all fields of life. The MR Scholars are provided with a scholarship of Rs 1.5 lakh per annum for up to two years.
Dr. Amit Sinha, an alumnus of IIT Delhi gifted an endowment of INR 10 crores to the Institute, to support the establishment of various student fellowships. A full-ride fellowship is an award granted to a student that covers all expenses of one’s education at a College or a University.
IIT Delhi Endowment Fund Board granted a sum of Rs. 2.5 Cr to IIT Delhi Hospital towards procurement of essential medical equipment for upgradation of the existing hospital facilities in March 2022. The sum would solve the purpose of upgrading the sparse resources currently available at the hospital.
IIT Delhi EMF launched IIT Delhi Endowment Nurture Fund. The fund aims to nurture budding entrepreneurs with upcoming startups with the support of our distinguished alumni. The fund will support four selected ideas per cohort, along with funding up to Rs 50 lakhs.
