LEGACY - Leaving the comfort zone of your home for the first time in life is not an easy task. Well, the Karakoram hostel tries to ease this seemingly challenging journey into the most exciting one for you. Named after the glorious Karakoram Mountain ranges, it is one of the oldest hostels of IIT Delhi The hostel boasts of being the best across the activities be it cultural, sports or curricular and has held the superiority across the clubs like dance, drama, debating, photography, design and literary activities. The home to about 500 students, this hostel has groomed an innumerable number of successful alums. When you become a part of this warm and welcoming family, you will come out as well-groomed superstars with memories of a lifetime.
Karakoram (Your Hostel at IIT Delhi) would always have a very special place in your hearts. This is where you spent most of your time at campus and in a way, it is like your home away from home, forever!
IIT Delhi is expanding the capacity of old Hostels, in this process the older structures will give way to contemporary & world-class living spaces, reimagined by leading architects & experts. The new Karakoram Hostel is being built with the contribution of Alumni and your generosity towards your hostel will go a long way in providing a great platform to students to develop into world leaders.

Worldwide, endowment funds have been established by global education institutions to secure their long-term financial stability and support their programs. They operate by accepting donations from their alumni, corporates and philanthropists and invest the proceeds of those donations to generate investment income.
The income generated is utilized to fund activities for the benefit of these institutions, many of them for perpetuity. Many institutions abroad have run their endowment funds for several decades and boast fund sizes running into billions of dollars each.
